DA JEEP and Jesse Post From Diana Lynn
I’m sure many of you had seen Coyote and Sawyer riding in his blue jeep. The “G-Dockers” knew it well. The jeep now has a new home and I drove the jeep to its next destination in Florida last week. I was honored to be asked to deliver such a special ride. If you too miss Coyote like I do, you can understand the emotion of being in it. But don’t think tears, think of the laughter of good memories and reminders from heaven.
There are so many memories to share but it is a stormy night so let me begin with a story that dates back to last year’s historic Nashville flood. Coyote and others who were ready for good times on Percy Priest Lake were flooded off their boats. So Coyote, Sawyer, my son, my dog Reese’s and I lived at the same address while the dock was repaired. So did Jessie. Jessie is a pied cockatiel that I know has to be at least 16 years old because I have a photo of my 19 year old son at 4 with Jessie on top of his head.
Post flood, “Da Jeep” as Coyote called it was parked under a carport for weeks. Jessie the bird spent his evenings inside, but days were spent on the front porch sunning and singing to all the other birds in the yard.
I had passed Coyote’s Jeep on the carport many times and always heard a bird very close, but I just figured it was in the tree or up in the carport. Until the morning Coyote and Sawyer set out for a ride to find there were more passengers than planned! That bird had made a nest and laid eggs in Da Jeep! Coyote, being the animal lover that he was allowed his Jeep to remain a home for these new baby birds. So Mother Nature was not interrupted.
I love Jessie the bird, and when Coyote, Sawyer and Jesse left I really missed Jesse’s singing. So, when Coyote left he put that bird nest (long empty after Mother and babies had moved on) on the front porch where Jesse sat every day. The next morning when I found it instead of missing Jesse, I was rolling in laughter. Coyote was caring like that. And he could always find a way to make you laugh even after he was gone.
While passing through Atlanta I noticed the radio scan had stopped a WQXI, where Coyote was once a DJ. If you know me personally, you know I love The Who and the Rock Opera “Tommy.”
MMMMM Roger Daughtry… Anyway, my favorite song from the album is “I’m Free.” And what to the delight of my ears blares from Coyote’s speakers? Yep, Roger himself letting me know I’m free of worry because Coyote is doing better than me! This was followed by many of my favorites from Fleetwood Mac, Michael Jackson, and more. It was as if there was a station that Coyote was programming right to me.
After Coyote passed, Jesse was left to me. She is a beautiful wonder of nature that sings every day. Thank you Coyote. Thank you for the best job I ever had, Y-107, the best friend I ever had, you and a family member that is dearly missed. Love~ Diana Lynn

I loved listening 2 Coyote on the radio, his station was the only one I listened 2, when he went off the air I was disappointed. I saw him once whn he came 2 murfreesboro, didnt get close enough 2 speak 2 him, he had so many fans there but it was great 2 just get a glimpse of the greatest disc jockey of all time.

Coyote, I think about you every day, but I’ve thought about you a lot today. It was one of “thooooose” days! I think the only person who could have knocked some sense in me is you. It was a beautiful day to boot, and I was stuck inside singing Disney’s Cinderelly song. I can hear you now..”Kiddo, you can do anything you want to and be good at it. Your smile alone is worth a million bucks. Now please play me a song. Don’t be nervous. You’re good.”.
Coyote was the only person in this world that I didn’t get nervous singing around, so occasionally I did. He loved every minute of listening. Coyote, thank you for listening. Because of that, I still play, and though it still makes me nervous, it is the one thing in this world that brings me a complete sense of peace. Yes I miss you, I miss Rock and Roll Trivia. I miss finding you reading the newspaper on the back of your boat. I miss making you listen to the Adult Alternative channel while I cleaned and you saying you didn’t know good music was even around anymore. I miss you telling me when my songs made perfect sense or weren’t sensible at all. I miss running into you and Sawyer Black at the Shell station and on your walks together. I miss our laughter. I miss you telling me to sit down, because we all know I don’t do it enough. I miss your stories about your incredibly free and fun-loving life. I miss you telling me I’m better than scrubbing toilets. I miss our hugs and kisses and the pouty face you’d give me when it wasn’t the first thing that happened when we’d see each other. I really, really miss Coyote days.
So what did I do tonight Coyote? I’m sitting, playing and singing, because I know you would say, “Now this makes perfect sense!”. Thank you Coyote! I do miss you, but buddy, you are definitely still here.
I can’t wait to get out of this cage, but until then “Let there be Music!”. I love you!

It was Friday the 13th and Coyote wanted to do something crazy, so we decided we would be superstitious and not get out of bed on Friday the 13th. We sat up a Bed at the corner of Harding Place and Nolensville Road and broadcasted live in our pajamas! Later, the entire crew joined us for this promotional photo. I have many more photos and memories to share. But mere words cannot explain the positive impact Coyote McColud had and still has in my life. More photos coming soon! The Coyote McCloud Good Time Good Morning Wake-Up Show, around 2004.
The station had scheduled a photographer to come in and shoot head-shots of all the personalities from both stations for the newly-decorated foyer. The night before I went to WalMart and got four black turtlenecks. After we finished the shots I opened my bag and said,”Quick everyone, put these on. Let’s do a Beatles album shot.” It was unplanned, unarranged, spur-of-the-moment, and never saw the light of day, but is a priceless memory of mine. Pictured are Bob August (whose phenomenal John Lennon impression was the inspiration), Coyote, Jeff Ray, and myself.

I know that Coyote will be watching over all of us as we begin the summer at the Marina. The days of the bands playing at the Marina and Coyote joining the boat owners on the patio will be a memory that I will never forget. I will always look to see if Coyote is coming up G dock with Sawyer Black. We have talked a many a time waiting on Sawyer to do his thing in the grass.Rock n’ Roll Heaven is jamming now that Coyote is there!! Hang in there Saywer Black.

I grew up listening to coyote mccloud on the radio. i met him once at a halloween party..i had spoken with him on the radio when he had asked for callers to call “the lie line”…this was an idea that he no doubt cooked up- he asked for listeners to call in the “best lie” that they had ever been told. so i called in and told him how my cheating husband had told me that he was only “doing laundry” at the home of “a woman friend” who lived about 30 miles away. i explained to coyote that we had a perfectly good washer and dryer at home and that there were many laundrymats between our home in old hickory and the woman’s house in springfield. coyote never missed a beat as i was recounting the “lie”…he laughed and commented that i had an amazingly good attitude about it all. talking to him on the radio was like talking to somebody you knew forever…by this time i felt i did. i was a 34 year old soon to be divorced woman who had been listening to coyote on the radio since i was 14 a few months later, he and i managed to be at the same halloween party so i walked up to him and said hello and that i was the woman who called “the lie line” and told the story of the husband who drove all the way to springfield from old hickory “to do laundry”. coyote looked at me and asked, “that was you?” i said “yes”. and i think he said well nice to meet you sandy. i told him likewise. later he dedicated a song on the radio to my daughter when i called and asked him to wish her a happy 16th birthday… for me, i could call coyote on the radio to request a song, i could listen to his ra dio show with prank calls, jokes, and references to “the semi-beautiful mary glen” for the better part of my life. i wish that i could have had the honor of being his friend, knowing him personally and hanging out. but for a guy like coyote, as unique and warm and witty and kind…the qualites that transcend …it feels almost like i did know him personally. i think it’s that way for all of us who were outside his close cirlce of friends. i still miss hearing him on the radio, and i grieve his passing, but he will always hold a special place in my heart. i hope to be able to walk up to him in heaven, and say, “hey coyote, remember that lie line?”
r.i.p. coyote! your friend, Sandy Waller

I’m 96.3% sure your the Nikki & Cathy Martindale we all enjoyed listening to with Coyote. You 3 were 3 was the best of the best. I’m not sure how long ya’ll was with Coyote, but I just had to say with THE LEGEND gone you 3, was my all time favorites. I started listening to Coyote at eight or nine years, old even then he was the best of the best. What a wrong was done when 96.3 did the unthinkable. I’ve not listen to that station since they did what they did. RIP My friend you will surely be missed. Before I even knew he had been sick I sent an e-mail asking if he, and some rest of the old timer’s could, some how get together for an oldie show playing the music of our years. Now I know it never got through to him. Respectfully : A fan PS God Bless you wasn’t his wife’s name Susan. Maybe you could forward this to his wife so she would know the RESPECT I had for Coyote and the faithful years. He gave to his fan’s….
